Could you introduce your career path ?
I graduated from the University of Ottawa with a bachelor’s degree in Economics, where I acquired a keen interest in finance and technology.
After finishing my studies, I started working for a mid-size artificial intelligence start-up based in Montreal.
Since joining Talan last year, I’ve been involved in a major project for a large international company. In this new role, I believe the skills I have acquired along the way have been a crucial advantage.
What are your current missions ?
I’m currently working on a long-term project with an international investment bank. I’m part of the market data applications support team for equity derivatives and fixed income securities.
As part of my role, we manage access to various market data platforms for traders and sales teams across several business lines of the bank.
Most of my tasks are related to automating processes and identifying bottlenecks in our workflow. Not only does this help my team be more efficient, but it also increase the speed at which traders and sales teams have access to up-to-date market information.
This year, the objective was to integrate the entire Americas region into our scope. The project was a success. Currently, our team actively supports global markets activities in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia.
Three words to introduce Talan ?
Network : We are part of an incredibly talented group of people with multiple backgrounds and individual skill sets. Working at the client’s site and getting to know their organizations while being part of Talan, means having access to a large network of people from the start.
Autonomy : Being a consultant at Talan means being able to have good judgment. Make your own decisions while working on projects with little or no supervision. Not only did it allow me to gain a sense of freedom, but it certainly helped me focus on the outcome of my daily responsibilities.
Knowledge : From the beginning, we are encouraged to learn new skills, take on different challenges, explore and deepen our areas of interests. Talan gave me all available resources to improve my skills, from certifications, online training, to learning new languages.
At Talan, what is your playfield? How do you manage to explore it?
I see my playfield in Talan from two different angles:
- Provide solutions to our customers : As a member of the Market Data Support Team, I strive to help and assist my team when needed. Not only do they trust me with daily tasks, but they also encourage me to bring new ideas and take on new challenges.
- Stay up to date with market and business trends : I attach great importance to continuing education. Our added value as consultants comes with our knowledge and expertise. Whether it’s by attending seminars, enrolling in the latest courses, or discovering a more effective application. But aside from training, I find the ability to share the knowledge gained is also an important part of our playground at Talan. In my opinion, being one step ahead is crucial, especially in an ever-changing environment like the one we know today.
Could you describe a strong memory since you have joined Talan ?
I remember very well the recruitment process with Talan. It was in the early stages of the pandemic when everything seemed uncertain and unpredictable. Despite all the external circumstances, less than a month after my first contact with the recruitment team, I was able to start my new assignment with our client. It was a remarkable moment to start a new project in such a difficult time! I was delighted that Talan brought me into the team last year.
Which person inspires you the most?
It’s a tough question to answer, but I believe my immediate family is the biggest inspiration. I also take inspiration from my colleagues, when I see their work ethic when we all work together towards a goal, which brings me a strong sense of joy and fulfillment.
